Obama got lucky with the diaper bomber

Barack Obama’s dreams for Obamacare, neo-liberal foreign policy, and economic stimulus owes a plane full of travelers their lives. So do hundreds of Detroiters.

Al Qai’da is still trying to be on the offensive after the Afghan invasion.  First, there was the shoe bomber. Now there is the diaper bomber.  Then a series of attacks around the world, including American allies.  Most recently, however, is an amusing if not scary diaper attack on Christmas Day.

The man who is supposed to win a bunch of virgins by dying a martyr decided to set off a bomb in a diaper he was wearing.  Not the brightest fellow in the world, but one smart enough to infiltrate a plan with a potential bomb.

By any political philosophy, the first goal of a given government is to provide safety for its constituency.  In this case, Mr. Obama’s administration failed.  Even after explicit notification from the terrorist’s father. Of course, Mr. Obama’s government pulled a Bush and reacted as if everything worked as planned. Obama’s short run solutions are laughable.  Long run solutions seem non-existant.  Both of which are unacceptable.

Then again, for an administration that can not prevent multiple unauthorized visits state dinners featuring heads of state, the priorities make sense: ignore terrorism, ignore threats to oneself, ignore the basic principle of the government.
